Allan Finnegan

Founder · Dental Business Attorney
Allan Finnegan is a dental‑focused attorney who has spent the past seven years working exclusively with dentists and dental specialists. His practice is built on a simple idea: dentists deserve counsel who understands their profession as deeply as they do. From employment agreements and associate buy‑ins to practice acquisitions, real estate, and DSO structuring, Allan provides clear, practical legal guidance grounded in the realities of running a modern dental practice.
 
Allan’s connection to dentistry goes back further than his legal career. He spent three years on a pre‑dental track in undergrad before ultimately pursuing business and law. That early immersion in the sciences and the clinical world never left him, and, in many ways, his career has come full circle. Today, he uses that foundation to bridge the gap between clinical practice and legal strategy, helping dentists make confident decisions that protect their livelihood and support long‑term growth.
 
Before founding Finn Legal, Allan gained experience across multiple sectors. He began his career as a corporate tax associate at EY, working on large mergers and acquisitions. He then worked in-house as general counsel for a technology startup in the Midwest. He later stepped away from law to build and operate a gym in St. Louis, an experience that sharpened his understanding of small‑business ownership, staffing, contracts, and the day‑to‑day pressures entrepreneurs face. When the gym no longer required his full‑time involvement, Allan returned to legal consulting, this time with a singular focus on dentistry.
 
Above all, Allan’s practice is built on trust. He partners closely with dentists to simplify the legal side of ownership so they can focus on delivering exceptional care and building the life and practice they envision.

Financial Analyst — Dental Practice Valuations
Alex Finnegan has five years of public accounting experience at a Big 4 accounting firm. During this time, he led various audit engagements by performing comprehensive risk assessments, evaluating internal controls, enhancing financial system processes, and reviewing financial statements of both public and private companies in several different industries. He advised clients through complex accounting issues including implementation of new accounting standards, valuation of goodwill, and assessment of equity carve-out transactions. Recently, he has business/financial analyst experience in the healthcare industry and at higher education institutions.

Operations Manager
Katie Finnegan serves as the Operations Manager at Finn Legal, bringing a rare blend of clinical insight, care‑team coordination experience, and healthcare operations expertise to the firm. Before stepping into the dental‑legal world, Katie spent years working directly with patients and physicians as a certified nurse. She spent two years working at Barnes‑Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, and later in a pediatric practice where she developed a deep understanding of patient communication, care continuity, and the day‑to‑day realities of running a busy clinical office.
